Ancestral tablets at Nirvana Memorial Garden

For many families, keeping the tablet at home is no longer practical. Placing it at a memorial venue is one respectful alternative.

Nirvana Memorial Garden offers ancestral tablet (神主牌) placement at 950 Old Choa Chu Kang Road. Its 2025 booklet describes this as "a modern way to honour tradition" for families with smaller homes or relatives living apart. Tablets carry a one-time maintenance fee, and Nirvana holds prayer ceremonies at Qing Ming and Zhong Yuan.

Why families move a tablet out of the home

  • Smaller homes, with no space for an altar.
  • Children living apart, so no one is home to keep up the offerings.
  • Moving house or downsizing.
  • Wanting the tablet looked after in a dedicated place.
